OK - So here's the situation.

One of my bands is an 80's big hair tribute band.

Incredible lead vocalist, but we are going from a 5 piece to a 4 piece and the guy that's leaving was doing the majority of backing vocals and he had a vocal processor to do some doubling/harmonizing. SO - Now, myself and the bass player are researching our options for vocal processors that will help us get more of a 'gang vocal' ability.

I know the typical units, but most videos are showing features that we don't really need and we need something that will work great in a live situation only, don't really need anything more than that.

We'd prefer something that doesn't require guitar input, but I know that's better for following harmonies, but the majority of our backing vocals are big dumb gang vocals...so...for what that's worth...just prefer to avoid guitar required units.

Also, is it worth it for my lead singer to get a processor that he can kick in when he wants to have some doubling on choruses and such? If so, what's a good, singer friendly unit?

Which units are you looking at and what is your budget?

As I have mentioned in other topics, I have used the Digitech Vocal 300, TC Electronics Voice Tone Create, Voice Live (briefly) and (currently) the Boss VE-20.

The ideal unit for me still does not exist but for its price I am quite happy with the VE-20. I like it much better than the TC VT Create I had. You can add two additional vocal layers and then chorus that for thickening. If you need more than that, then you are probably looking at a Voice Live 2 which is $$$.
