Members srmd22
Hahah, this is funny, actually. I need to preface by admitting that I am NOT a particularly emotional/sensitive type. In fact, I am sort of a stoic, make-a-joke-out-of-anything-serious-or-emotional type. I wrote a song a couple of months ago. I actually wrote the melody in the most troublesome portion of my range, where I transition from chest to mixed to head, and then half the verses are in my falsetto area. I did that purposely, as an exercise, but it turns out I really dig the melody. It just really gets me going. On top of that, the lyrics are kind of a non sequitur poem designed to evoke the emotions I have experienced in certain parts of my life. They probably don't make much sense to listeners, but they are awfully effective on myself. In particular, every time I sing the last verse, I bust out crying:cry:, right at the first line. There is nothing overtly emotional about the first line (although they have a deep personal meaning), but for some reason, the melody and the lyrics do it to me, when I sing it. Then, if I can get it together and muddle through the first line or two, I bust out crying again on the third line. When I listen back on tape, no problem, only when I actually (attempt) to sing it. I can sort of pull back emotionally and get it out, but I am mystified. Am I losing it? I feel emotions related to music, but I have never actually cried while singing a song before. Now I cry EVERY TIME I sing this verse. The three verses leading up to the last one-- no problem. Just the last one. Any one ever experience this? Don't laugh at me!! Well, OK, go ahead and laugh, it is kind of funny. Only thing is though, I sure as hell ain't gonna sing this in front of friends or family if I can't stop freakin' crying every time I try to get through the last verse. Members srmd22
you sound like a {censored}. crying is for pussies Hmmm, who is this ducksbumm? Oh, must be a little girl using mummy's computer. Hey, listen honey, did mummy teach you that big person word? I know you and your little Barbie doll think that it means cute little kitten, but for adults it can be interpreted-- that is, it can MEAN-- something a little different. So be careful when using it in front of your 2nd grade special ed teacher, or she might put you in time out, where you will cry like the little girl you are. OK, sweetie? Thatta girl, say hi to mummy for me. I'm going back to the singers forum, you can stay and play on the little girl's name calling forum if it's ok with your mummy. Members DukeOfBoom
You were asking to be disparaged by making a thread called "I Cant Stop Crying" and then going on and on about how it is "funny" and "sad" at the same time. Then when I give you what you ask for, you lose your lid.
Members srmd22
Someone might try explaining to the little girl the difference between self deprecating humor and childish rudeness, although she is probably too young to understand. Members DukeOfBoom
typical. Look, I gave you what you wanted: a swift kick in your ass to not cry anymore like a {censored} during your songs. I usually expect a thank you in such circumstances. Members srmd22
Heheh, this thread is turning out to be a lot more entertaining then I had predicted. A little girl that turns out to be a gay Duchess! I am cured-- I am laughing too hard to cry! Congrats on coming out Duchess! Just in time for the repeal of Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell, too. Thanks for the insight Weissey!
Members DukeOfBoom
I am shocked at the ill-informed audacity of Members with I gave you what you asked, you ought to show a respected forum regular some degree of thanks. Members BlackBelt
I dropped one original from my acoustic set because there was too much of me in the song, and I'd get just a little bit choked up singing it. That was one that stays at home now. Too close to the heart.I think that its the sign of a true artist when after years of playing, you can still feel the knockout power that music can bring to your life. Theres a difference between an artist and an entertainers. Each has their place, but this thread topic is about the artists...
