Members Awake77
Two different synths, similar price point. Both seem totally wicked. Which one would you choose?

Members Khazul
A nice fat mono synth wasnt what I need when last looking for a synth, so ended up with a radias. If mono would have done me - then dumb question

Alot - but I didnt buy it as a main synth - I wanted something very different sounding to the TI to compliment it - and for that its excellent. Much as I love the Virus sound, there are times when its too soft sounding, so this is where the Radias comes in nice clean and bright and very easy to program and alot of fun. I like that it is allmost a groove box - just so easy t knock of a drum loop and a base arp/seq and some other seq modded bits as quickly backing while your are messing around with ideas etc, so a very quick to use and inspiring synth. Very easy to get really cutting or dirty sounds out of it as well, but as I said in another thread, while its dirty fat, its not rich fat - that kind of comes onto why I probably would not have one as my only synth - the fx and to some degree the filter seems to lack a bit of body that the onboard hi+lo EQ cant quite sort out. As I am going to be using with the Virus TI mostly, then this isnt an issue and actually it sound works really well as a contrast - which for me was the point. I would say it would go well with rich sounding synth, especially real analogs, or a PEK/MEK for that matter. When I first played with it, it didnt really grab me sound wise until I went back home and was back on my virus again and thats when then realised it was just what I needed, with that in mind - next time I played with it in a shop - it was a whole different experience as thats when I really started to notice how much of a contrast it was - allmost whereever the virus is weak, the radias is strong and visa versa, so once happy that the sound was going to be a great fit - started having alot of fun with it. Guest Anonymous
I have a Radias and a PER. I would say the Radias is more versatile but, the PER is more Vintage/Modern sounding at the same time. I also have a MS2000R and can tell you the Radias can make a lot more different sounds. The Radias can sound totally digital and buzz like a chain saw or come real close to classic analog sounds of all types. There is a certain sound the PER has that totally reminds me of my Prophet 600 with a splash of aggressive digital. Hope this helps.

Members stikygum
Great, now synths are catching viruses, what's next, my Mac? Looks like some of those teeth are dead. They should probably be pulled out. Though, I don't know if they make replacement dentures for those.

Members protues9
I think it's surpising that the radias went from being out of range of most of us, to being completely affordable. Id like one myself.. but there's other things I need to get out of the way first..
Members Tony Scharf
Ive got the Radias and the PEK, and it really depends on need as the two are NOT comparable beyond price point. the PEK/MEK would probably be an excellent addition to an existing setup, where the radias is more desinged to be something you can build a setup around. Members The Severalist
I'm thinking of selling my EMX-1 and putting the money towards a Radias, hoping it will cover similar ground and go beyond some of the annoying limitations of the EMX-1 (shallow synth architecture, limited samples with no dedicated filter.) Right now I have no VA, just the EMX-1, ESQ-1, K2500RS, MWXT, and some software. Anybody with experience with both have any advice? I'd hate to lose some of the patterns I made, but I'm thinking of trying to build the EMX-1 in Reaktor trying to redo them all that way. I don't know, my decision making abilities right now are {censored}, one of those lot's of self criticism points that come along every couple months, I'm like a deranged squid out there, it's embarrassing. Anyways congratulations on the Andromeda, it's the best VA out right now.
