Members swanusa
I have Motif ES rack. Is this expansion board comparable to any of the good synths?
Members rasp
It's as good as the yamaha AN1x:thu: but with half the poly. Better go to the www.motifator.com and search the forums archive.
Members Jez
I quite liked mine, but it was a pain not having it properly integrated with the rest of the synth. The one thing that always wound me up greatly with the Motif and all it's boards was that I couldn't really get into deep editing from the synth itself, and you have to piss about with a computer all the time to properly play around with it. Members Meatball Fulton
Like Jez wrote, you can only deep edit the synth from a computer which is a real drag but the board does sound very good. Once it's programmed you can call up patches just like any of the native Motif sounds.
Members protues9
it sounds sweet as hell through the motif..
Members Henway_piano
I've had mine in a motif-rack for two years. It sounds powerful, but is limited in polyphony, and user interaction. It has an annoying latency when switching patches. If you're a tweeker, you should get something with knobs. If you use only a few parameters routed to the motif's knobs/ controllers, and the polyphony isn't an issue, then the plg150an is a welcome addition.... Members Sealed
YAMAHA provides PC editor for PLGs, and it's useful, though without many knobs. Here's .mp3s and info about AN200 (PLG150AN in a box):http://homepage.mac.com/synth_seal/html/

Members mildbill
ya, i think everyone's pretty much nailed it. i like the sound a lot. it's not so good having to use an editor to get at everything. keeping track of patches can be a pain.polyphony's a bit limited, but not bad for what it costs.it can sound slightly different depending on what host-board you're using. and, oh ya - i like the sound a lot. Is this expansion board comparable to any of the good synths? I answered your question so obviously YOU care. You just didn't like an answer that was different from the one you wanted, thus why ask in the first place.

Other than the fact that you totally confused me with the original poster I guess your head isn't up your butt after all Later kids...this forum has gotten a little tiresome
Members orangefunk
hehe... that Umbra guy.... IMHO the AN is a little beefier than something like the Z1's analogue model... I really liked the one in the EX5... but I know nothing and don't know what I'm doing.... well at least according to Umbra
Members NuSkoolTone
It's not bad for an afterthought. It doesn't COMPARE to the AN that was in the EX5 IMO. Sure it was only 2 voice poly AN, but what a KILLER 2 voices! Having to load the good patches everytime you turn the machine on is a SERIOUS drag.
