How do you bounce a VSTi track to an audio track?

I'm using Cubase SX...

I've been learning how to make loops and stuff with MIDI (finally) and I got this cool track going right now... so I used the LM-7 that's included in SX as a drum machine and while it's great in MIDI, I want to bounce it to an audio track so I can add filter effects, etc... How do I go about this? I learn slow... thanks in advance.

Hey Whiny,

I use Sonar, so I dont know how much this will help, but all you should have to do is select the MIDI track and the audio track with the VST on it and select something like "Mixdown" or "bounce to tracks".

For the trance snareroll, just start out with 16th notes and change to the next fastest note duration every measure, with some 32nd note triplets right at the end. Its pretty easy to do in the piano roll, or grid view.

Thanks dude

Yeah, I started messing around with it a little and sorta figured that out with changing the note speed and all...and yes, I soloed the vsti track and did a mixdown to audio track and it ended up in the pool...the i just set the markers to the right spot and it went perfectly. god damn I love it, this is what I've been missing all these years! :)

I don't use Cubase, but I have heard these are very good videos:

You can buy the 3-DVD bundle here for US $99:

P.S. -- By looking in the Content list, it appears your question would be answered in Video 1 (if you don't want to buy all three up front)

Easy.

1. Set the locators to include the section you want to bounce.

2. Solo the VSTi track you want to bounce,.

3. Select the audio track you want to bounce to.

4. Click the record button.

:confused::)

Just trigger a lot of short midi notes spaced very closely, or set a really high tempo change. Two different ways of doing much the same thing.

Err, no.

What you need to do, is press F2.

This will bring up the mixer. Find the channelstrip for LM7. (not the midi track, but the audio track.

Apply insert effects to your like.

Sorry - was getting muddled up with external instruments!

Here you go then:

1. Set the locators to include the section you want to record.

2. Solo the VSTi track you want to record.

3. Go to file>export>audio mixdown and make sure you select to audio track and import to pool

I've got the export to audio setup as a keyboard shortcut (I chose M for mixdown)
