HELP! MIDI/PC issue with sound editors

Greets, all.

I've recently reclaimed my JV1010 for a friend and am now trying to edit the damn thing with the SoundDriver software, which I never had an issue with before.

Now, the software won't recognize any MIDI devices. To try to work around this and assuming it was just the software, I d/led another editor/librarian, BorgLib, and it's giving me essentially the same errors. Essentially, they both seem to be saying "MIDI device out of range".

Here's my setup:

Yamaha i88x Firewire audio interface (has single set of MIDI in/out/thru ports, not in use)

MOTU microlite 5x5 USB (4 ins, 3 outs, used)

Motif 6, TR-Rack, JV1010, all running to the microlite

Studiologic SL-990 MIDI out running to microlite

Someone kick me in the head if it's something simple.

Thanks.

EDIT:

When using Cubase, I have no problems sending or receiving MIDI data within that program. Every device can communicate with every other device w/o issues.
