I love his playing but alot of it seems fairly simple to play. I still can't play Don't stop Believing without screwing it up so i'm not a great judge. What do you guys think? If any, what cheesy songs do you guys have trouble with?

I think he's a pretty good player from a pretty great band. Simple or complicated has little to do with it, i think, in this pop/rock context. Who cares if a 4th grader could play the synth riff to Seperate Ways, it still rocks. Journey was certainly one of the hugest bands around in their hayday, and they earned that.

Great singer too... i kind of miss that huge yet melodic rock sound.

AK... you broke the seal...

I agree... a decent songwriter, a good keyboardist. Not flashy by any means, but a solid contributor! I grew up listening to Journey and it was a major early influence on my interest on synths (especially Frontiers). Genuis... no? Worthy of respect yes! He didn't really innovate... but he certainly complimented some great music of the time. ;)

heh, wasnt that the video where the instruments flashed out of existance here and there and the band was playing air guitar, ect.

lol, the image of him stabbing his fingers at a missing Jupiter is etched into my mind for eternity... maybe just cause it was the first time I'd seen anyone play air synth.
