not to change the subject, but Ive been thinking of picking up a 2500 or 2000 to compliment my rig. What do you think of their overall sound? I have lots of other synths so it doesnt have to do *everything*, but it would be nice to have a second rompler in the rack.

'authentic instruments' is certianly not something that hinders me. and the reverb is easily remedied with my outboard stuff.

I had a PX7 for a while, and liked it, but editing was a nightmare on that little display. Now that I have found someone made a software editor for it, I am tempted to pick one up again.

Authentic Instruments is not what Emu specializes in anyway... Purchase a Motif for that... It's all about the synth engine, Z-Plane filters, function generators, & those lovely patch cords

Regarding the PX7 editing, you pretty much have a dedicated knob/button for most features, plus the ribbon/touch strip :thu:

Hey LowTech, I'll checkout the P2500 later ;)

agree with comments above re emulations of acoustic instruments, and the fx are crap. However, the synth patchcord set-up makes this thing almost semi-modular and the Beat Garden, Techno, XLead and Vintage roms contain some very good sample waves. Filters are imo as good as digital gets, though note that resonance is fixed at note on. The Beat Garden and World roms have some outstanding hand percussion too. The B3 rom contains far and away the best sampled Hammond out there. These roms are getting harder to find though and they are getting quite pricey if evilbay is any indicator. You can get most of EMU's Proteus 2000 sample library in their newer range of software.
