Hey guys, a while back I was looking at the Electro 2's. The main reason I didn't pull the trigger was the pianos were supposed to, well.......suck - basically.

Since the OS3 is out, have the newer piano samples made up for that deficiency?

I had begun looking at the Stage models, but that's alot of money for me right now. Since the upgrades, would the electro 2 be a viable alternative to the Stage?

I think the new pianos are a slight improvement, but they are still terrible, imo. Very "plunky". If the acoustic piano is going to be one of your main patches, you will need another keyboard besides the Electro. And frankly, playing acoustic piano on a semi-weighted keyboard is never going to be very satisfying no matter how good the patch is. I have an inexpensive Casio PX-310, and it sounds great (at least compared to the NE).

If I need a piano patch and the Electro is my only board that night, I use the CP-70 electric piano. It's not very good, but the CP-70 never sounded very good to me, so it's pretty authentic :-)

In general, I just stick to the excellent Rhodes, Wurly, and Clav patches. And so do most Electro users.

I don't know how the Stage sounds, but I do know that it uses the full version of the Steinway and Yamaha patches, rather than the puny, slimmed down ones in the NE (due to its paltry memory). So I bet it sounds world's better.
