What "Freebird" is to guitarists, "Jump" is to keyboard players! Really funny thread, though...
Members rainbird
We're already OT here, so it seems like a good opportunity to come out of the "total cultural misfit" closet and ask someone toenlighten me on the origin of the phrase "Best (whatever) EVAR." And while I'm at it...how and where and when did the phrase"Wait for it...." originate? OK. I'll crawl back under my rock now. Thank you.
Members XorAxAx
It's just the latest evolution of tongue-in-cheek luser-speak (or n00b-speak, depending on your POV). It's, well, you know, a way for those who are in touch with 'net culture to poke fun at the masses who just got here. Jonny Sixpack, Jenny Officebunny, little Timmy, people who don't know where their caps lock key is -- those sorts. It serves a positive function by encouraging newcomers to practice good netiquette. As for when the first lusers/n00bs came, well, nearly everyone here was a luser/n00b at some point. However, many old-timers would point to the mid-90s as the time when massive amounts of n00bs began flooding the 'net to surf WWW. I just missed it. I was a luser in 1990 when I was sneaking long-distance calls to internet-connected BBS systems. IMA GOTO TEH BED NOW................ EDIT: Not so fast. Fever and shakes make Xor a non-sleeping human.
Members kooki_sf
i think the phrase itself orriginates from the comic book collector on south park.
