Any pictures of Midi set up?

"Typical" is pretty wide open on this topic. I use an 88-key controller that's run into an 8x8 midi switch. Most often it's set up to route midi from the controller to a Virus and Motif, and also to send the midi clock from the Monomachine to everything.

What kind of detail are you after?

Well, I run everything diretcly into various MOTU interfaces and then use software routing (mostly) to move midi between controllers and modules. There's a picture of the audiomidi setup at the bottom of the page. ALl the MIDI interfaces are in a rack under the desk.

For a truely terrifying picture of what that much MIDI wiring (Actually a lot less if you check the corresponding audiomidi picture) looks like, have a look at:

When I'm working in Live, then it's in charge of getting the MIDI data to the right devices, and working detached, two of my MOTU interfaces can store 8 internal routings that can be called up without a computer.

I don't own a MIDI timepiece (although I'd like to), that would allow editing from the front panel. I also don't know if this qualifies as 'typical' in any useful sense.

Umm - get a midi patch bay/interface and plug everything into that.

Distributing midi clock is allways the biggest pain in the ass if you have rack module and pure controller keyboards as well as a master clock source and keyboard synths.

And wtf doesnt anyoe make patch bays with more than 8 port pairs (other than the expensive AV sync thing from MOTU)? -

Grrrrr!
