Members Bones
I've been looking at a Roland PK-5 to use as bass pedals. Any one have any experience doing this with their CX3 or BX3? Thanks
Members orangefunk
Great question... I am thnking of exactly the same thing... When I bought my CX3 s/h the previous owner said it couldn't be done. Wonder how it would work... do other organs like the VK-8 have a dedicated bass tone for pedals? I am thinking the best way to go is simply buy a dedicated module with the PK... just something that will provide those low deep tones... wonder what would be the ideal partner? Members Bones
Not sure about the vk-8 but the vk-88 has dedicated harmonic bars for bass. Picked up pk-5a on ebay. Going to try it out on the BX3. I'll let you know how it goes.
Members eric
Your only constraint is that the CX3 and BX3 do not support a pedal tone on a separate channel. Only upper and lower manual. You would need to use the lower manual setting as the pedal tone.

Members Bones
Thanks, everyone. Guess I'll plug the pk-5 it into a module or second board. I wasn't planning on gigging with it anyway. Just wanted to have something to learn pedals on. Still, would have been cool to be able to use it with the BX3.

Yup, just as you said. Just not practical for use with the CX-3 / BX-3. Plugging them into a second board for now.

Wonder how it would work... do other organs like the VK-8 have a dedicated bass tone for pedals? The new Hammond XK-1 has 3 tonewheel generators for upper/lower and pedal. The more I learn about this board, the more I like it. By the way, those Midi pedal rigs look kind of small compared to conventional organ pedals. Can one use heel-toe with them or are they only large enough to play with the toe only?
