Members mytee2.0
so I was all excited to get my AS-140 midi-cv converter today, so I could actually PLAY my modular, as opposed to getting weirdo drones, hisses and weezes. FREAKIN THING IS D O A!!! but I bought it new from big city music so hopefully Ill get an exchange with no hassles

Members rylos
Get used to dead stuff. More new stuff is being built using lead-free solder, and lead-free components. The solder is prone to cracking up fairly quickly, and the components will fail from "tin whiskers". I've been getting new lead-free parts that are bad right out of the box. http://nepp.nasa.gov/whisker/background/index.htm http://www.calce.umd.edu/lead-free/tin-whiskers/ http://ap.pennnet.com/Articles/Article_Display.cfm?Section=Articles&Subsection=Display&ARTICLE_ID=216213
Members Awake77
That's really alarming!! I didnt know the switch to lead free solder was going to cause this kind of problem.
Members mytee2.0
update. Twas not a problem with solder, LCD cable was slightly loose I dont know why I didnt check that, but it doesnt matter anymore bigcity music rules. Prompt emails, they even called me when I didnt respond to a 6 hour old email. Didnt charge for shipping it back to me and they even threw in 4 cables NICE! hmmmm.... maybe they saw this thread and thought it would be great free advertising if they "took care of me"
