Members pix
just finished this trip hopish track. any feedback is welcome specially about the arrangement. what works better what doesn't, where it doesn't "flow" or gets boring, etc... http://www.thewanderland.net/audio/6 am.mp3 stuff I used was the modcan for basses/leads/arp, absynth for pad and fx and battery and some drum loops for the drums. Members Diametro
I hate to fixate on this ... but it's too long. It would be much better if every section was reduced by 2/3rds. Also, the sounds were very unnecessarily harsh toward the end. But I wouldn't be writing this if I thought it couldn't be made better or you won't continue to make better music. Just not a fan of long songs unless they're really special and not just stetched out.
Members suitandtieguy
my powerbook is fried right now, but i just walked past Donald Crunk, who was listening to it, and i thought it sounded really nice.
Members rasp
it does sound really nice. it's long, fact, long enough. i dont mind. i just wish the groove would work like it does on the 7th minute. the long decay bas with the cut off. sweet. i'd drive the lead a bit more if i where you... what synthz did you use, besides absynth.? Members filterenv
When I saw the length, I thought I'd be turning it off after 3 minutes or so, but I didn't. It kept me listening all the way thru. Lots of different parts for me to pay attention to. Maybe the opening was a bit drawn out, but it was sounding good, so why not. It could use an ending, though. Members Allerian
Hats off to the length of the song and its many parts. Personally, I'd like to hear a little more variation on the voices, but the ones you have are pretty satisfying (but where's the wildly distorted sound?). The more I listen to XM radio's "XM Chill", the more I'm enjoying slower, longer electronic tunes like this one.
Members pix
thanks guys! I've been listening to a lot of somafm's groove salad channel so maybe that conditioned the whole track a bit. The original idea was what is now the last part of the track. And yeah, that's where the best "groove" is. I really like the ambience of it, and the bass is really nice there. However when I picked it up again I was already in a different mood and the thing took another direction... the pretty leads, melodies etc... but that's great to hear that's what I really wanted to know. I don't want it to become too mellow, and I think one of the reasons is that the first part that has the lead, goes around twice. i think I may cut it to just one, then go to the rising part keep the lead when the thing breaks for a couple more measures, and then go to the darkest (imho best) part and work it out a little bit more and make a proper end for it. I'd like to make it shift and give more focus to the last part. I always find it hard to erase parts of the arrangement that are done already, but those are usually great decisions. Anyway....I'm glad it's Friday edit: all "analog" sounds come from a modcan modular, the pad and fx come from absynthand the beats are a couple of drum loops and battery. recorded in ableton live. Members pagan
Hi pix! I like alot the sounds that were used, specially like the pads synth. 2-note bass makes it sound boring. I was expecting the "madness" sounding pads to develop into the rapid medium part with crazy lead. Oh, and try it without that 2-note bass track, would sound alot better like from 4:40 to 5:10. The lenght is ok, this kind of music should last long time, 8:21 is normal. Good luck with your song!
