Members Array
Both Analogue Haven and NovaMusik have them in stock. Is anyone as excited about this as I am? I really want one, but I cant afford it at the moment. I cant bear to sell the things I have now either. I want to drive up to Nova and check this thing out. Hopefully we'll get some reviews soon? What other analog drum machines do you see out there though? People are still paying over $1000 for 808's and 909's....the xbase 999 goes far beyond those, at least in terms of features. Members Tony Scharf
ive got an XBase09. I dismissed it when they first came out as underfeatured and over priced. Now that I own one, I feel like I was an idiot. feature count be damned...it sounds damn nice, particulary run through my Nord G2 for processing. Sure, youve only got three voices (open and closed HH are exclusive and therefore one voice), No FX, No internal filters of any kind, and it really only does 808/909 impressions (duh). What makes it special, in my opinion, is its simplicity and wide sweetspot. its hard to dial the knobs and find a sound thats not useful (to me anyway). Also, if your going to get a lot out of it you *have* to push it. This has a very inspiring effect. Ive thought seriously about getting a 999, but have pretty much decided to pass. sure, its got more of everything...but that would just really get in the way. Members stikygum
It is high, but I don't necessarily think it's overpriced. Juergen is a awesome guy, and he knows his stuff. I'm still amazed everytime I play my Sunsyn, truely amazing for a analog. And his drum machines are no slotch. And this one looks like the Ultimate Drum Machine. If I could have only one, I would throw out the 909 and 808 out the window let them go Because the 999 is innovative and doesn't need others around. But I haven't used the Machine Drum, so I can't comment on that. Still brand new, the 999, considering the features, won't cost you much more. But knowing Jomox, I'll buy the 999 before I think about the Machine Drum, I think Elektron is really cool, but I KNOW Jomox has 'IT' going on.
