Members packrat
I've been playing with a bit recently and found that it's quite cute in several respects. I'm currently trying to retrofit sufficently nice MIDI support into it that I can use it for things. Have many people here used it? What for? B> edit: Woo! Senior Member! Members kooki_sf
i took a look at it. seems kinda silly to me, why someone would want to limit themselves to a text interface for music.
Members packrat
*blink* Well, because if you want to do manipulation of many types of sounds, it's a lot more straightforward to do it in a program than to futz about with a graphical patchy system like Max. Likewise midi juggling or responding to outside input can be easier. If you're speaking about the UI of the actual finished program, with the new miniaudicle stuff, I believe that there's now a UI component that can be used, and in fact the program segments can be edited and changed in realtime which seems nifty. Members XorAxAx
Oh my! I just read a bit of the language spec. This is some neat stuff. I see some ChucK-related time wastage coming in the not-too-distant future, after I have developed my knowledge of synthesis a bit further. I guess it's open source, since they write about reusing and modifying the source, but I couldn't find an actual license for ChucK.

GPL according to the bundled COPYING file included in the source tree. I'm in the process of trying to add a bunch of useful things to the language like string ops and better midi sending capabilities to do the sorts of things I want B>
