If this is spam, I'm sorry - I'm suffering from a moment of pride :D

Today sees the release of "Northern Air" - the third full length from my project The Wretch.

There's a full streaming preview up on my site, and if so inclined a cd can be ordered via a link from there as well -

http://www.thewretch.com/portal/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=37

On topic, this album sees a MASSIVE wall of experimentation with gear. Some equipment used:

Synths - Elektron Monomachine, Elektron Machinedrum, Elektron Sidstation

Nord Modular G2, Roland MC-202, Roland SH-09, Roland RS09, Roland Juno 6, Future Retro Revolution, Yamaha CS-15, Waldorf Microwave XTK, Yamaha FS1R.

Effects: Metasonix TM-1, Metasonix TX-1, Sherman Filterbank, Moog MF-101

And my baby, my 1956 Sears and Roebuck 5 watt tube amp

Guitar processing done with some neat pedals: Effector 13 soda meiser, a Schumann PLL, a gnarly old Marlboro Wailer re-badged Ibanez Standard Fuzz, and a few alesis modfx sprinkled to taste...

So once again, sorry for the spam, and I hope some of you get a chance to listen and enjoy!

wow guys - thanks for all the feedback! it means alot to me.

2 years working on it in almost a complete vacuum has made me kind of numb to the material... I know I'm happy with it but I've been living with the material so long I've lost all subjectivity :D

As to individual questions:

Niall - the PLL is my buddy Eric's - he got on the waiting list when it was relatively short, and a good long while before it was written up in Tape Op - the list is beyond reasonable now and I don't think my name will ever come up..... it's a freaking blast though - definitely the top of my want list but I try not to think about it because it's pretty much chasing a ghost.

As for a deal: no deal - I publish some music through Magnatune (the first two albums are there, this one may go up there but I'm going through CDBaby to get iTunes distribution so I'll give it to them if they want that aspect of digital distribution).

I wouldn't turn down a deal under the right terms, but for now I'm happy self-releasing. I'll be sending this album off to a couple of labels just to see if anyone wants to take a gamble anyway :thu:

As for sounds: on the title track that's no dulcimer, it's a horribly abused piano that I sampled and used heavily as sound sources throughout the album - that's the most present. I'll probably transcribe my track notes at some point as there's alot of pretty funked up stuff I did to audio on this album.....

The guitar gating is actually just a horrible chopjob in phatmatik pro, embracing the effect of crazy gated doubletime tempo-synched rexing of guitar loops. There was ALOT of monomachine gating on vocals/guitar/etc in various tracks though!

Moogerfooger - downloaded in AAC? Are you referring to one of the other albums on Magnatune?

Thanks again everybody

btw - this week I'll also be releasing a free online "ep" of outtakes, alternate versions and remixes, alot of instrumental content in there as well as some kick ass remixes. And the video for the title track is going up real soon!

;)

:D

Drums: Elektron Machinedrum, found percussion sampled and re-sampled (Define Where I End's intro kickdrum is a dog's heart beating from a russian cold war documentary) and I have a collection of clean breakbeats from various libraires purchased and trimmed over the years, mostly just uptempo live drum kits that I slice and edit to death with phatmatik pro (I'll be buried with a copy of that damned plug on a cd-r)
