Workstation Compliment to S90-ES

I love the drum pads on the Fantom X, very usable in the context of the workstation. (One of the big reasons I'm keeping it since I have the Fusion as well.)

I vote for the X as well since it has audio tracks, the best UI of all the workstations, the nice big colour screen and some great sounds of it own, which importantly, I think go down quite different from what the S90ES has on tap.

The Fusion is also a lower-priced option to consider, with pretty much all the functionality of the Fantom plus some extras -- and minus some extras.

Try the Extreme, too.

But other than its shaky soundset -- mostly with acoustic instruments; it does have some great sounds -- I don't think it has that much to offer as a workstation compared to the others I mentioned (no audio tracks is a biggie, IMO).

Thoughts?

Yamaha RS7000's are dirt cheap at the moment.

Trust me they make for one Kick Ass Sequencer with tonnes of live control and improv options on the fly also.

You don't even need to use the internal ToneGenerator though you could put it's ISS sampling engine to good use IMHO.

I really don't see why you'd want ANOTHER workstation when you already own a perfectly decent one myself.

If I had hardware I'd augment something like that with say a MonoEvovler (desktop) , G2 Rack and sequence the lot off the RS7000.

U&I,

The RS7000 is one of the very first considerations to come to mind. It's right up there at the top of the list. Funny you should mention that.

About the S90-ES...yes, it has the soundset, but there is no sampling and it's only a playback sequencer. I do have Cubase SX3. but I hate sitting in front of a computer to scratch out a few ideas. I'm just quirky that way. Plus it would be nice to have a hardware sequencer for live purposes.
