Yeah start posting on Open Jam and go from there.

Maybe it's a good idea to have the offtopic poll again to see what the rest of the forum thinks of it, albeit that I'm rather afraid that I can predict the outcome. Care to start it? :)

I type in "last name origins" (no quotes) in Skynet/Google and there we go:

You can even type your surname into a Google search and look at the domain names of the countries they come from.

But that's not always reliable because of conditions like colonization (i.e. indigenous people in Central/South America given Spanish surnames), assimilation (i,e, Italian immigrants removing the last letter of their surname to sound less "ethnic") and other factors. I also remember hearing some German-Americans with the surname "Hitler" modified or changed their names in the early 20th century for obvious reasons.

My surname is Spanish in origin but I know for a fact my ancestors are from the Philippines, China and to a lesser extent, Indonesia and India.

So did the UK monarchy (albeit their surname wasn't originally Hitler) - they just happened to change it to the name of castle they live in...

Ive been told by other relatives that my last name came to america from italy, and my grand father's grand father changed it, but nobody know what the original was. So its awesome to me to hear what you said!
