Members Umbra
He's on the mark but most people don't have the determination and strength of character to actually follow through. There is a big difference between those that just "go do it" and those that just dream about it.

There is also a difference between "going for it" when you are 20 and living with your parents, versus being 40, married with kids, mortgage, etc. I have a lot of respect for Steve Jobs, but after he made his first $100 million at Apple, it is kind of hard to say he took really big risks after that. I think having that amount of money would be a huge security blanket that would enable a person to do about anything they wanted. I did enjoy the speech, though. Members Mook
Cheers for sharing. Mr Jobs isn't the best speaker - but what a speech. I've had too many mornings pissed off... I'm just waiting to die right now...

The exact excuse doesn't really matter.

I'm guessing that having $100meg is actually no more a security blanket than the equity on your home and car. Rather, it's a yoke that would drag most people back just as much as any other material attachments--"I can't leave the company, it needs me!" I was most free when I was 21 and broke and hitch-hiking across Canada with nothing but an old duffel bag and my guitar. I say this who is 50, married with kids, mortgage, etc. and have no intention of bailing on my responsibilities. But then, I still wake up happy to meet the day and go to bed happy to meet the night. Members pizzamon
I have to agree with Doug, I was thinking that when I was watching this. I'm a fan of apple and Jobs, but he really was directing this speech at a younger crowd. I noticed he also took the opportunity to SELL, SELL, SELL. On the other hand I totally relate, as I have had a similar life (adoption excluded).
