Hi all!

I am a pianist,

It has been years since I played in a band but now I planning to pick up where I left off. I already received some offers to play in a band (Funk/Soul/Jazz) but I need to buy some equipment first..

I am interested in what you have to say or choose...

If you would have enough financial funds what would be your dream instrument line up?

Here's what I am hearing:

- master keyboard: Yamaha S90 ES or Roland RD 700SX

- Top: Yamaha Motiv ES 6

- Monitors: JBL EON-monitors?

- Mixer: ??

Thanks!

I'm also primarily pianist.

Master: Nord Stage (bread & butter, some synth leads/pads)

Top: Fantom X7 (strings, pads, SFX, unweighted keyboard controller for upper manual of Stage organ)

Monitors: JBL Eon 10's

Mixer: Soundcraft 4

... and a Melodica

I play with different groups, so need to be flexible. I rely on the mixer to allow me to send stereo to my monitors and optionally send stereo or mono to mains.

The Fantom would probably be a better master keyboard but I often leave it at home, depending on the type of music. The Fantom can also mix-in the Stage outputs, eliminating the need for a mixer. Fantom interface is deep and must be pre-programmed for live use (unlike the Stage, which likes to be tweaked). Once you program your favorites, the big Fantom display and function keys let you navigate your patches really easily.

Added bonus is the Fantom's ability to record/sequence with programmable rhythm section.

One thing I looked at when I got started again (blues band) was how much the equipment weighs. I ended up with a very functional and light weight rig:

Casio Privia PX300 piano, 28 lbs. and I like the keyboard more than just about anything else I've tried. With a little e.q. the piano sound is more than adequate for live gigs and the electric pianos are decent.

Nord Electro, 23 lbs. and covers B3, electric pianos and clavinet as well as anything I've played.

Mackie SRM350 active monitors, 32 lbs @

Hey, it beats lugging a Fender Rhodes 88 up three flights of steps.
