Members Tony Scharf
So, I am trying to get my Axiom 49 controller to work with live 6, and it is really really really just not working. all sorts of things about it are just broken (little things like the transport control..) and I just find the choices made in the mappings to be bad... now, I *can* just use a standard midi map, which I need to setup each time...but thats not too nice either. I am thinking I may make one..more..purchase this month and get a Remote SL to act as control surface. Does anyone have any experience using this with live? How does the key action compare to the Axioms? I really like the action on the axiom, and I know this is a subjective point, but I'd like opinions. Does the automapping actually work? Any input greatly appreciated.
Members kooki_sf
go check the ableton.com user forums... the novation boxes seem to be pretty popular.
Members pogo97
Novation's keyboard is very very nice. I have an x-station and am delighted; I assume the SL is the same or better.
Members XorAxAx
I received a Remote SL 61 yesterday. I haven't had a chance yet to see how the automap works. The key action feels nice, very substantial. It's definitely on the heavier side as far as semi-weighted actions go, but it is still tolerable. The only thing I don't like so far is the build quality. It's OK, I guess, a step beyond toy quality, but not as tough as any metal-clad synth I've owned. On my SL 61, the junction between the black plastic and silver metallish panel, just above the keybed, is wavy. That is, the black plastic is not perfectly flat, with "hills" about 0.5 mm high. You have to look closely or feel it to notice. But it is enough to make me move the SL from my X stand to my desk.
