Members Darkstorm
Either take it to a repair shop to see whats up. Or replace. How old is it? What brand? How much did it cost you new?
Members mate_stubb
You are using a receiver (as in home stereo) to power your speakers? Are these speakers matched to the stereo, or are they something else you hooked up? Consumer stereo equipment is not really designed to be rugged enough to power live musical instruments. If you hook up speakers of different impedance, the output drivers will eventually blow up. If you hit the input with enough sharp transients, it will eventually blow up. If you overdrive the input with too hot of a signal, it will eventually blow up. Get a real amp, you'll be glad you did.
Members kooki_sf
yea it was cheap. oh well. edit: the levels were all matched correctly though, and it was never pushed too hard. next question: as this is for a home studio... anyone got suggestions on decent cheap powered monitors? these seem popular these days... Members kvmoore
Mate_stubb, what kind of synth is this? I've never seen it before.
Members mate_stubb
That is my mighty Rhodes Chroma: Sitting on top is a Chroma Expander: That makes 32 channels of analog goodness.
Members kvmoore
Ooooh yeah! I remember seeing that synth on either synthmuseum.com or vintagesynthexplorer.com a while ago. I didn't recognize it from the small photo but I reconize it now that I see a closeup of it. I never knew they made an expander for it. Look really nice. To kooki_sf: As for the stereo amp deal, I'd also recommend powered studio monitors along with a powered subwoofer as a replacement.
