Hello, I am looking into starting doing synth in a new band. I have been looking over the internet for suitable equiptment but i am not sure what would be the most suitable.

The korg range is certainly what most interests me, but due to the large range they have it is hard for me to choose.

i was looking at the MicroKorg, and the MS2000.

I would like a set that would perform well and produce some amazing sounds.

If neccessary i will buy a few units, rather than just, for example a MicroKorg.

Also been looking at the EMX and the EM-1 AND ES1.

Someone help!

Thanks allot.

Andy

Korg is in my good graces right now. I've been very happy with their products since 2000 so here goes.

The MS2000 is a great choice. The limited polyphony might be a problem but it is a great synth. I've owned the MS2000 and the MS2000B and only let it go for a PolyEvolver KB which I just recently traded for a Triton Extreme.

The Microkorg is the same synth engine as the MS2000 minus all the knobs. Unless money and/or portability is a factor, go for the MS2000B.

The ES-1 iMO is the better choice out of all their grooveboxes. There's a good deal of flexibility when your able to use your own samples.

I recently sold my microKorg and bought the new Korg Micro X. It's more expensive, but has WAY more features, versatility, better sound quality and is basically a baby Triton. I'd recommend checking one out before making a decision.
