You can't directly display an image since the Gear Junkies website stops you.

As someone else guessed the new "boutique" synth mentioned over at Motifator IS indeed coming from Arturia -- the "Origin".

Given they state "More info will be announced at the Messe 2007" I assume this means they do not currently have a product to demo yet:

SOUND WITH AN ATTITUDE

Origin sounds like nothing else on the planet. It not only implements True Analog Emulation, a technology which accurately models analog synthesizers (letting you layer up to four of these monster synths without using any of your computer

there is no decline - people who keep saying that are only deluding themselves..

you really cant beat dedicated hardware when it comes to something like sound synthesis - for one thing you bypass the bloated OS of your computer, and for another you can customize the signal path thru any number of beneficial chips/circuits

i.e.:

Origin uses two Analog Devices TigerSHARC

Looks pretty good, but I'm thinking - knob boxes are cheap, softsynths are cheap, yes, it's got a display, but the computer's going to be doing a good share of the work. Don't know how much those chips cost, but I think there are some computer cards that have similar chips that aren't too expensive.

How much different will this be from having some Arturia softsynths and a knob box dedicated to them?

So, I guess it'll come down to price. I'm a bit curious about the sequencer and if you'll be able to assign quantized CC's with graphic editing and such.

hey Pighood - I see you've got the CS80 softy. on Arturia's site, under 'copy-protection' it says you just have to put the cd in if you load new banks or if you update it. It doesn't say anything about the stupid dongle - is this how yours works? I hate dongles.

This is not a knob box. The whole point of this is to take the load off of the computer. It's a synth in its own right. It has some serious CPU horsepower in it.

Exactly. You can't beat hardware with software in regards to sound synthesis. *Destroy* would be a much better word.

;)

Sorry. But if you want insane synthesis and mangling, software is the place to be.
