Members MartinHines
You can't directly display an image since the Gear Junkies website stops you. As someone else guessed the new "boutique" synth mentioned over at Motifator IS indeed coming from Arturia -- the "Origin". Given they state "More info will be announced at the Messe 2007" I assume this means they do not currently have a product to demo yet: http://www.gearjunkies.com/news_info.php?news_id=1709

Members renegadebliss
http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/products/origin/details.html SOUND WITH AN ATTITUDE Origin sounds like nothing else on the planet. It not only implements True Analog Emulation, a technology which accurately models analog synthesizers (letting you layer up to four of these monster synths without using any of your computer
Members FunkyLaptop
"Take the oscillators from the Minimoog, the filters from the CS-80 and the Bode shifter from the Moog Modular V to create your own synth." They had me at 'oscillators'. Members Meatball Fulton
So is the Origin just Arturia's answer to Creamware's hardware synths? Sounds like they took all their softsynths and plugged them into standalone hardware. So what does that say about the decline of hardware synths? Interesting...software companies going into hardware. Members Awakened_Yeti
there is no decline - people who keep saying that are only deluding themselves.. you really cant beat dedicated hardware when it comes to something like sound synthesis - for one thing you bypass the bloated OS of your computer, and for another you can customize the signal path thru any number of beneficial chips/circuits i.e.: Origin uses two Analog Devices TigerSHARC

Members EricM
Arturia's announcement has made me even more excited than I was for the V-Synth GT. Now I am just curious about cost, and whether it will have their new JP8 emulation (or at least it could be added separately)
Members ContrastTX
It looks nice, but I'd rather it have keys, especially considering the price that this will probably come in at (I guess no less than $2k). I wonder what the polyphony will really be like, too.
Members mildbill
Looks pretty good, but I'm thinking - knob boxes are cheap, softsynths are cheap, yes, it's got a display, but the computer's going to be doing a good share of the work. Don't know how much those chips cost, but I think there are some computer cards that have similar chips that aren't too expensive. How much different will this be from having some Arturia softsynths and a knob box dedicated to them? So, I guess it'll come down to price. I'm a bit curious about the sequencer and if you'll be able to assign quantized CC's with graphic editing and such. hey Pighood - I see you've got the CS80 softy. on Arturia's site, under 'copy-protection' it says you just have to put the cd in if you load new banks or if you update it. It doesn't say anything about the stupid dongle - is this how yours works? I hate dongles.

The whole point of this is to take the load off of the computer. It's a synth in its own right. It has some serious CPU horsepower in it.
Members mildbill
ya - I got that. a bit similar to the G2. just sayin'. http://www.analog.com/processors/ anyone know what these kinds of chips price out at?

Members Mike51
you really cant beat dedicated hardware when it comes to something like sound synthesis i.e.: Exactly. You can't beat hardware with software in regards to sound synthesis. *Destroy* would be a much better word. Sorry. But if you want insane synthesis and mangling, software is the place to be.
