Members pogo97
Anybody know anything about this beyond what it says? I do know that running in X11 means, in some way, running in Unix, which I find a bit intimidating. But it sounds like it might be really powerful. Ardour 2.0 is a free, open source digital audio workstation application that runs in Apple's X11 environment. It offers multichannel recording, non-destructive editing, full automation support, mixing, unlimited tracks/busses/plugins, timecode synchronization, and other features. Highlights of this release include a new interface with more accessible menus and an overall redesign, destructive recording functions, undo/redo across program startup/shutdown, redesigned VST support, modular support for hardware control surfaces (including the Frontier Designs Tranzport and Mackie Control Protocol devices), and more. Ardour is free for Mac OS X 10.4 and Linux. On Mac OS X, it requires that X11 and JackOSX be installedfrom MacInTouch website
Members Tony Scharf
Ardour runs on Linux - grab a copy of Ubuntu (which Dell has recently announced will be an install option on some home desktops) and install it (its easier than most linux of the past) and run an 'apt-get install ardour'. its pretty cool hmm. maybe its time to give linux audio another look.
