Members flat earth
I decided to give my synths a spring clean this morning, but the nextel surface on my XT seems to have ingrained dust in it. Whats the best way of cleaning it? Any Waldorf owners have any tips? Do all Waldorf synths have this type of surface? Cheers.
Members flat earth
come on, surely someones had a go at cleaning this odd surface? Qwave? Pighood?
Members XorAxAx
Water, mild soap, washrag is my best guess.

Members CTB
Not all Waldorfs have the Nextel surface, but a decent percentage of the brightly-colored ones do. My yellow Q and XTk both are Nextel, and they could use a cleaning. I haven't really tried anything, though, as it seems a toothbrush will be needed to get around the knobs, etc., and I just said "some other day." Members Synthoid
What is a "Nextel" surface? Ain't heard of that one.
Members mate_stubb
Me either. It has a cell phone built in?
Members CTB
Nextel is the sorta soft-touch surface that Waldorf used. It feels almost fuzzy, but it is actually paint. The problem is it is textured, so it captures dirt, as opposed to smooth paint. http://www.nextel-coating.com/nextel/default.asp?lng=eng
Members b3keys
I use a damp cleaning rag (water only). Make sure the water is not dripping on the cloth.
Members Qwave
At Waldorf the use a special brush to get rid of dust.If you have some stain around the front left corner near the wheels, a mild soap should do it. But don't use to much water. A drop of water going into the synth might kill it. And maybe you too. So please pull the plug first. And never use sharp cleaners like pure alcohol, chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Nextel feel like someone mixed plenty of the little rubber gum thing you get on a paper after deleting a pencil line with the colour. It is kind of grainy. Perfect for dust to stay there. The original MW I in the first revision got a normal finish. The revision B ones and the WAVE were the first Nextel coated Waldorf synths. In Summer 2001 the released the classic blue Q and microQ with a normal paint job. This was the end of Nextel on Waldorf synths. The new Phoenix edition and the synths shown at the NAMM and the Frankfurt Messe were also without Nextel.Keeping some white Nextel clean would bee a nightmare. And remember the Blofeld is white.
Members Synthoid
Me either. It has a cell phone built in? I guess so. Around here, we have Verizon finish on our synths.

Members CTB
Sorry for the OT: Were the Green Machine and Shadow XT's Nextel or regular?
Members Qwave
I know for sure that the black XTs were Nextel coated. And I think I remember the Mean Green Machine (one of the last 99 MW Is every build in a special green colour) as being Nextel too. Members Moogasaur
I use a soft dry paint brush to clean the dust from my (nextel finish) XT, as well as my other synths. It's quick and easy, and gets in all the nooks and crannies (what the heck is a cranny, anyway?).
Members CTB
I've had decent luck with those Swiffer duster thingies for the more knobular items in my gear.
Members filter20
My Waldorf Q+ has a beautiful smooth ruby red finish to it. No Nextel or Verizon, but it does have Motorola chips in it.
Members dereksljuka
(what the heck is a cranny, anyway?). Cranny is a made up word. It was invented by Thomas' in 1874 to sell English muffins.
