Members negninegaw
I am looking for a second hand module for extra sounds to be used on my old Roland piano HP 4500s which has midi in and out;The module should be as small as possible (because the piano is in the living room and I don't want to make it look too 'technical')and still have many sounds, like organs and strings etc.Later piano models do have some of those built in.Any suggestions for a particular (Roland?)module?. Thanks
Members mate_stubb
Roland MT-32 was the module made to sit on this piano. If you could find one, it would be practically free as they are obsolete and modern gear sounds much better. Maybe the half rack GEM GM-X - it does general midi and is supposed to sound great. It's white though, might not fit in with your decor. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GMX
Members nolights
In the half-rack world, also check out the Roland JV-1010... the next iteration of the MT-32. Or its successor, the XV-2020. Or maybe consider a Kurzweil ME-1.
Members negninegaw
Thanks guys; very helpful, I'll check those out.I thought of something else in connection with this: will the sound of strings and organs in a module sustain on my piano,or will it die out, even if you keep pressing the keys?(like the internal piano sounds of the HP 4500s)
