Members Umbra
Depends on what software you are using.

Members ChetSinger
At the moment, I have no MIDI editing software at all. Everything I've done until now has been in the audio world, and played by hand. This is my first foray into MIDI editing.
Members ChetSinger
Every software sequencer I've ever used can do this That's good new for me. Are any of them free?
Members ChromaLord
usually the track you merge to must be in record, copy any paste, make sure your defaults arent filtering out any CC comands-like sustain pedal info
Members mildbill
That's good new for me. Are any of them free? 'Select your platform': http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/MIDI_SEQUENCERS/ Are you serious Chet? You don't use a midi sequencer? Get with the program. (I haven't tried the ones in the link, but most of them are freeware/shareware, I think).
Members ChetSinger
Hey, thanks for the link. I'm checking it out now. Yeah, I don't use a midi sequencer. Everything is audio. What can I say? I'm a Luddite.
Members mildbill
This one had demos that probably look more familiar: http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/PRODUCTION_SUITE/
Members mrcpro
Standard MIDI Files type 0 merges all tracks into one. On anything you've got, save as SMF0. No editing required. Some cell phone ring tones use SMFs, and I think this is a utility that's in many programs and may even be in Windows Media Player. Not sure and 'm not looking! I'm not good with computers and would spend all morning at this probably...
Members alfonso
Remember that if you have multiple MIDI tracks you don't need to merge them to have them played by a single MIDI instrument, you only have to send them through the same MIDI channel, the one set as receiving in the instrument. Members mrcpro
Converting to SMF0 will not change channel assignments BTW. It just merges. To clarify....

Not quite. When two parts play the same note, the first note-off turns off the note, whereas I need the note to stay on until the second note-off.
