Hey, great attention getter. 10 or 12 threads for the Prophet '08? ... well that's ok. It should be one of the best synths ever (take note SonicState!)

And since this is a speculative thread anyway, I'm wondering why Dave Smith made the Prophet 08 announcement after Summer NAMM? I mean if Rhodes can announce their products a year before release... ( of course Rhodes may have been targeting investors and distributors as much as measuring public reaction.)

I may be jumping to conclusions here, but my guess is that Dave Smith knows something we don't, like someone else is getting ready to release an analog polyphonic. Moog's hinted at it several times and I know the buyer surveys have clearly stated a desire for a new Moog poly.

Japan has been rather quiet on the topic, but they can't be blind to the obvious trend. Is there a Roland Jupiter 10 in the works, a Korg PolyEight, or a Juno 2106?

i heard a rumour that yamaha are planning a cs-80'08.

and it's going to cost less than $1,000.

And stay in tune...

Seriously, Yamaha would be my last guess for Japan. Roland seems the most obvious, but Korg has been on a roll lately.

Still, if Dave Smith is worried about anyone, it's likely Moog.

Maybe an Ion 2? Seriously doubt any of the Big 3 will do analog

Summer NAMM isn't really a keyboard show, and Dave doesn't attend it.

May be? ;)

Much simpler explanation...based on the constant stream of requests Dave got to build a new analog polysynth, he figured if he made one people would buy it.

Arturia's got the Origin up its sleeve - which has an option to get a Prophet V in there.

Erm thats basically a bunch of rehashed softsynths. Dont think DSI or anyone else making analog poly will have to worry to much about that for people who are after a proper analog for whatever reason.

Yeah, basically they are the online shop of MESI. I am a bit surprised because usually the MESI prices are not really cheap.

Still I bought my MEK through them as they are the French importer.

Their shop is funny: it was a kind of old garage/workshop full with parts of vintage synths everywhere ;-)

They produce the Eowave effects and the Persephone too. Nice looking machine but I didn't really liked it when I tried it...

Excellent!! And thanks for the clarification. Never thought it could be that simple.

Can you answer one more question for us Dave: How did DSI get the use of name Prophet? Didn't that go to Yamaha, or from Yamaha to Korg?
