Members ggm1960
I recently got a Midi timepiece II on eBay. It turned out to be a mistake as the manual didn't come with it and I'm a PC user so it got pushed to the side and I scored a parallel port MOTU XT Express which I did get to work. Now I'm rather curious about the MTP II. I know they are a lot more Mac friendly but I also know that the Macs no longer have the old RS422 ports that these things used to plug into.I'm considering picking up a Mac that will work with the unit if I can find a compatible model on eBay. Questions: When did the Mac stop with the RS422 serial ports? Did Macs still have the RS422 ports when OS9 became the happening operating system because the software at MOTU doesn't seem to go back any further than that? Are there any recommendations for what might be a good old 90's Mac system for operating the MTP II with?

Members Meatball Fulton
When did the Mac stop with the RS422 serial ports? The original iMac was the first to use USB (in fact it predates Windows boxes with USB). All Macs after that (some G3 and all G4, G5, Intel) came with USB rather then RS422. I think the blue g3 was first actually, I could be wrong

It looks like the disks that came with the parallel XT Express should also work with the MTP II and they mention system 7 operating system. This whole thing is more about just testing the functionallity of the MTP II and/or setting it up. More out of curiousity than for any serious use. I might find a use for it or list it on eBay if I can verify it works.
