Simply put, would i be able to program a piano roll like sequence (what ever you want to call it) and send it out on a midi channel to control my virus? along with running samples and drum loops and all that other good stuff with the rs7000?

RS7000 sends too Internal TG/Sampler - Midi A - Midi B or any combination of those 3 in any style in any section in any phrase on any track of your choice (just so you know)

A phrase can be from 1 bar too 256 bars long be any time signature on any track in that style on any midi channel also.

So Track 1 Section A Phrase 001 could transmit on Midi channels 1-16 on midi out's A or B and A + B for example.

The phrase time signature is independent of global time signature I might add.

So a Song or Style in Yamaha speak is made up of the Following.

1.Style = Song Project in pattern mode

2.Section = Sections A too P in that Style (ie:16 sections)

3.Track = Tracks 1-16 in sections A-P with TG / Midi A / Midi B assignments

4.Phrase = Any single section of midi data on Any Track in Any Section in Any Style ( Phrases are spread over 16 sections and 16 tracks - so you get 256 phrases from 1 bar too 256 bars in any timesignature spread over any of those section and any track sending midi to the TG / Midi A / Midi B)

NOTE - Any phrase can be on any section in any track in that given style.

- Any phrase can have independent length and time signature

- Any phrase can play at 25%/50%/100%/150%/200%/300%/400% and

up to 800% of the master tempo.

- In other words a 100 BPM Style can have phrases at 25bpm/50bpm

100BPM,200BPM and so on an so fourth ie 1/2 clock/ double clock /

triple clock etc etc or such divisor of the main tempo.

- you can for example mix 4/4 , 7/4, 15/16 and 2/4 in different phrases

in different tracks playing in any given section of any style at the

same time with or without Midi BPM stretch.

- XOX programming covers 1/4 to 1/256 note resolutions and all triplet

subdivisions fully switchable on the fly and grid accommodation to all

time signatures.

- Step sequening can do whole notes down too 1/480th of a crotchet

note per step with full use of rests/ties/dotted notes etc at any

givem time signature also.

I won't go on as I'll confuse the crap out of you bit it's a damn powerful system is all I'll say and hugely flexible too boot.
