Members felineki Posted October 27, 2007 Members Share Posted October 27, 2007 When I was browsing the web for samples the other day (I'm not really a musician, but I dabble in MOD and MIDI stuff for fun) I came across the Roland U-220 page at Synthmania.com and clicked on the demo for Patch 27, "Synth Bass7". Instantly, it seemed familiar. I thought "Could it be?" I dug out a sample I had ripped myself earlier to compare and sure enough: this was the synth bass from Capcom's Super Street Fighter II Turbo! (I had ripped the samples from the game previously, which is a story for another day). I really like this game's sample set, particularly its synth bass and brass sounds, which have a really cool 80's-ish sound to them. Curious, I checked out some of the other samples on that page, and found that Timbre 44, "Synth Brs 1" was one of those synth brass sounds I liked so much. Lots of other samples in SSF2T seem to have come from this synth, like Patch 39 "Flute", Patch 40 "Shakuhachi", and Timbre 55 "Bell Drum". Unfortunately, that page doesn't have demos for all of the synth's sounds, so I'm wondering if some of my other favorite sounds from SSF2T are from this synth or not (If not, I'd be interested in hearing where they're from if anyone can identify them). I've included them in a zip file here. Also included is another sample ripped from another game, Konami's Gradius III. Have no clue where that one might have originated, but I'd like to know. Thnaks!
