Members Paolo Di Nicolantonio
That and who cares about those drum machines. Thanks for the useless reply. If you have nothing positive to contribute, that's your problem. I am sure many people here are interested.
Members Dioxaz
And I am. ^^ I think 3 is E-mu SP12. For all the rest, Nightsynth should be correct.
Members Purity_Control
i used to own a 505... until i decided it was time to accept that the 1980s were over! #3 sounds like it could be that... but then i don;t have golden ears, and all those old drum machines sound mighty similar... Members r33k
Oi. The TR505 was absolutely horrid with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, except perhaps as . On the other hand, many of the machines listed in this post are amazing sounding and classics.
Members Purity_Control
it was cheap, and it's one of the few bits of gear i managed to sell a few years later for the same as i bought it for... actually it was reasonably passable for the goth stuff i was into doing at the time... if you leave the naffer sounds alone... Members Umbra
Thanks for the useless reply. If you have nothing positive to contribute, that's your problem. I am sure many people here are interested.I see, it's "if you don't agree with me you should shut up". That was a serious comment. Those drum machines are for the most part old and irrelavant to current music. BTW, your comment was even more useless than mine. At least there was a reason behind mine other than bashing someone else.

At least there was a reason behind mine other than bashing someone else. I know it was a serious comment, that's why you ticked me off. And you're definitely entitled to your opinion, just like anybody else. What irks me is that while I continuously try to propose threads with real content that - I think - many appreciate, other people seem happy just being negative about everything. I spend some time preparing links, doing the research etc., and do you think I'm happy if you come, DON'T even try playing the game, and leave negative remarks? Thanks for nothing. Of course you are free to do so, it's the Internet - but don't expect me to be happy about it. And I strongly disagree with your statement that those drum machines are for the most part irrelevant to current music.

Members Don Solaris
I just bought TR-606. Not working one, for dead cheap.... If i wont be able to repair it, i will sample it. Its last sound when it hits the wall.
Members Dioxaz
Yay, I'm pretty strong when it comes to 80s drum machines (it's easier, since the sounds are in low number and instantly recognizable). ^^ And I strongly disagree with your statement that those drum machines are for the most part irrelevant to current music. I share this vision (well, I didn't notice the two posts before mine, as I was typing it), since they're just have to be relevant to music, not necessary current or modern. As long as they help someone to make good music and make people happy, they are still relevant.Lo-fi samples useless nowadays? I'm not sure. A good and smart use of them can make those boxes sound surprisingly good (and that works for synths, too).
Members Nightsynth
Old DMs are totally realevent and always will be. In the late 80s, people thought analog synths were a thing of the past and, as a result, you could buy a Jupiter 8 for $400 or so. What is this thinking that gear is generally relevant or irrelevant? Who's the commitee that gets together and decides that? I still have (and use) my Kawai R-50e, Roland TR-626, and Korg S3. Wow... maybe I need to throw them out since we've now been informed that old DMs are irrelevant... Paolo, bring on game #2!
Members CardioGram
i have a violin that's a couple of hundred years old (not very, by violin standards), wow i guess that must be _really_ irrelevant!!
Members Nightsynth
Totally irrelevant! You can't even do 'supersaw' with that ancient violin... You shouldn't use it anymore
