Members Roald
Help a poor conservative pianist! I've been inspired by the berlin electrojazz outfit Micatone and wanted to do a track in a similar style...together with my friend singer Samiha, I mixed a slightly more adventurous mix than I'd normally do...with synths and stuff Let me know what you think! The chords and lyrics are Samiha's, I just did the playing http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=40507&content=songinfo&songID=6012751 Not sure about the drums under the solo, they're somehow too busy...and the ending should be a fadeout I think. Members Roald
oh...and for those interested in the instruments: Bass: Sonik Capsule acoustic double bassPad & arpeggio: V-StationDrums: Battery2 (x2)Choppy sound & solo: Fender Rhodes through NI GuitarcombosPiano: Yammie CP70 to rephrase my signature-quote "I cannot even program synths. But I have to say that I had a blast pushing the buttons that made weird sounds and all. I even managed to make some hideous background, ambient type noise. So I really had a good time and was inspired"

Members eminor9
Great track, Roald & Samiha ! Although it hesitates between dubby and d&b ambiences I like it as it is. I could see me remixing it into heavy dub territory.

Members Don Solaris
Vocal track is at least 3 dB too loud - it would be good to reduce track's volume. Also apply a compressor to bring out the background. Singing is fantastic, BTW.
Members Roald
thanks so much! yeah singing is fantastic and I also like the harmony a lot..I've forwarded your nice words to Samiha (you can hear her in action on many more of my tracks, for example "close your eyes") I have some more vocal takes and didn't even comp yet, so it'll become even nicer. The mic was a Rode Nt3, by the way.

Members Allerian
Gotta love female singers. Agreed, she's too loud in the mix.
Members Roald
will mix her a bit lower...I'm also going to improve on the reverb (this is Steinberg's RevB ATM, and I've acquired PSP Easyverb which should sound much better) what strikes me is that nobody makes remarks on the synthsounds..they're all presets of the lowly Vstation....what else would you add if you were me? I have no clue of synths whatsoever so i'm just fooling around

Members donaldcrunk
agreed, the simple synth sounds are where it's at. not every sound has to be a ridiculous evolving DonSolaripad (just kidding don i granted i'm a little jaked right now, but i think you did a good job with this track. i agree with the above comments about the vocals. she's not completely to my taste, but my taste doesn't interfere with my enjoyment in this context. excellent track.
