Do I have to use a keyboard in order to use Reason? I don't have any midi ins on my computer or Toneport UX2. Thanks.

No, you dont need a keyboard.

But it would be nice to have one if you plan to use any of the instruments, as there is really no better way to play the instruments than with a keyboard.

So if I use the Redrum to build a loop, how do I import that into Sonar? And can I use a "keyboard" view or something in Reason to place the notes with my mouse and select duration and all of that? Thanks.

man, you're doing it the hard way

get a cheap USB midi controller

and learn to play BASIC keys....will be valuable to you in the long run and a much more musical way of doing things - not to mention a MASSIVE time saver.

Think this is more of a point and click kind of guy - purely programmed sequences and all that, so 'playing' equals loop a section while you use mouse to add/remove notes.

Sonar supports ReWire. That lets you treat the entire Reason environment like a plugin.

If you already own a copy of Sonar, read the manual about using ReWire.

I got a usb midi deal to allow me to use my keyboard. I play all sorts of instruments. I'm trying to get away from having to do the point and click thing. I still don't understand how to import the stuff into Sonar. I insert reason and Sonar created three new tracks. When I hit record I can hear what Reason is doing and see the levels in Sonar, but no wav files afterward. This probably doesn't make sense. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

This works really well too - you need a powerhouse of a PC to pull it off without headaches, though.
