Members Jbrazz
I was always a big user on the guitar forum, i love to play guitar but in the past year i have really been getting into chiptunes and electronic music. i have a bunch of gameboays and copies of LSDJ, a microkorg, kaoss pad3 and a korg er-1 mk1. now il looking to start recording and im totally lost. first i need a program that can make drum beats and simple synth parts, i was thinking reason. but thats about where i hit a wall. money isnt really a 'huge' deal, so shoudl i look at some thing like pro tools or logic? im just totally lost and just need some opinions. thanks joey
Members akliner
Logic is a great DAW with really good soft synths...it's the best of both worlds.
Members Jbrazz
So with logic I cAn make the drum beats and stuff plus record and edit? Will I need to buy plugins? And is logic 8 worth it, or should I go with express
Members Yoozer
Reason is self-contained. It also makes your hardware gear sort of useless since it doesn't do audio tracks, and sampling everything first is tedious. Can't go wrong with Logic, but do try to check out a demo first. Ableton Live may also be a good option for you, but it doesn't have the very nice plugins Logic comes with.
Members Jbrazz
So logic will not just allow me to make the music but also record and edit?
Members Cygnus64
So logic will not just allow me to make the music but also record and edit? Correct. Logic does midi, real recording, the works. The only problem with it could be a steep learning curve. Then again, all of them have their strong and weak points. Logic, Sonar, Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper, NTracks etc all do the same thing. The main difference is layout and workflow. Pro Tools doesnt like to play well with others, so if you want to add outside stuff, they make you buy their stuff. PT is a great program, but EVERYTHING extra will cost you. I suggest downloading demos of each if available. Pick the one thats easiest to make sense out of.

Members akliner
Logic Express is an excellent program and I think that it is a better deal. :phil:
