Mono keyboard question..

This is a bit of a noob question, but oh well..

I've got a desktop Evolver I'm using with a controller. Obviously since it's mono I can only play one note at a time. With my playing style, it's hard to completely release one key before pressing the next.

My question is.. When I was demo-ing the mono Evolver keyboard I remember being able to play one key and press the next and when I released the first key, the second key's note kicked in. Is there a setting on either the controller or the desktop Evolver that will allow this?? At this point it's pretty difficult for me to feel very fluid when playing because I tend to cut off notes every now and then because I don't release quickly enough..

Thanks!

What controller are you using?

Last-note priority should work.

If you have the choices low, high, or last, they work like this:

Low-note priority: The lowest note plays, cutting off other notes.

High-note priority: The highest note plays, cutting off lower notes.

Last-note priority: The last note you strike plays, cutting off other notes.

First-note priority: The first note you strike plays, and subsequent notes don't play until you release the first note.

Yeah last-note priority is exactly what I need. But when I set it, it doesn't do anything.. Not sure if I'm missing anything, but it seems like as soon as you select that setting it should be immediate..

I'm using a CME UF5 controller.. I've had my share of problems with the UF drivers and host software on the computer, but in terms of a pure midi controller I don't see how the controller could cause this issue with the note priority.. But then again, I'm definitely no keyboard expert.

make sure you don't have legato switched on on the controller, it's like glide and will slowly ramp the keyvalue up/down to the next key you press. what this does until you release the first key you don't get a note change but a pitch slide value sent.

this would cause the evolver to not "see" the second key press until you release the first one.
