Members Sdoiter
I have the choice of performing with A Korg I3 + Yamaha S30 or with some of my currnet gear - Korg Triton LE + Yamaha EX7. I can't combine keyboards - it's either my gear, or the Korg I3+ Yamaha S30. What setup would you consider better soundwise?
Members The Pro
I can't stand the anemic-sounding Triton LE, and as it turned out just about every band in my area has one. There must've been a hella good sale on them or something. You should mention what kind of band and/or music you intend to play.
Members Meatball Fulton
My take: your gear. Even if it didn't sound better, you're familiar with it and probably have stuff already programmed and ready to go. The best reason to use a provided rig is to let someone else worry about maintenance and transport.
Members Jez
The Triton LE trumps the i3, and the same goes for the EX7 against the S30. Your gear is better, and you probably already know your way around it very well. Stick to what you know
Members Sdoiter
We play progressive rock/Metal (Dream theater are our main infloence, but so does Rush, Yes and even Gentle Giant...) About the fact that I know my gear better - that shouldn't be q problem, 'cause i'll have plenty of time to work with the Korg I3 and the Yamaha S30, before the gig. I'm pretty sure that the Yamaha S30 is better then the EX-7, It sure has better pianos, ep's, probalby organs... It's also newer... And the Triton LE does sounds anemic to my taste... The I3 looks like a beast of a synth.. (Although I tend to think it's mostsly an arranger..). I think I'll go with the Korg I30 and the S30... It's always nice to play with new gear. Thanks everyone..
Members pink floyd cramer
The S30 has the S80 soundset and I doubt very seriously the EX7 beats it out in any sound category. But unfortunately the S30 has a PSR-type keybed so it loses there.
