Members eric
You guys seen this yet? I read a rumour about it on another forum and then got my new Sweetwater drool magazine yesterday. Lo and behold, there it was in living color on the page. Same as LP with arpeggiator and USB connection. The coolness factor is the new BLACK chassis rather than the silver used on the Tribute and Stage. The black metal with MOOG logo looks very cool. I've heard of some folks retrofitting with this black part.

Members C#minor
Aparently there was an article in the Feb. issue of Future Music about the LP v2.0. Nothing on the Sweet Water site either, but it could be a matter of days/weeks.

Members Jeff Irok
I dunno...From the read, it almost sounds like an OS upgrade (like the Nord Electro II). But did you see the other side of the page? The new Voyager "Old School"? They took the Voyager, stripped out the LCD display, touchpad, presets and...MIDI! The write-up says it's "affordable", bu the cost is a measly $500 less than the Voyager Stage. (Actually, the write-up said there are some changes from the Voyager.) I don't know about this...First a lot of functionality lost for only $500 less. I can see the point about putting out an "old school"-type of analog synth; I'm cool with that. I mean, having a synth that's essentially a WYSIWYG is cool. But MIDI gone too? Yes, that's REAL old school all right, but sometimes the school was closed for a reason...(I suppose that analogy might not make sense. I'm trying to say that I would prefer MIDI on any synth I have. That may not be everyone's preference, but even if I didn't use it much, I'd still rather it be there.)
Members THE_baldrick
Adding USB is more than an OS upgrade, though I guess the other features will be available as an OS upgrade. The Voyager OS was announced at NAMM about a month ago . Re lack of MIDI - suppose they could have included basic note on/off, but you can guarantee if they'd done that PPL would be complaining it only had noteon/off If you can afford that for a Monosynth you can afford a MIDI CV converter, and with the numerous CV ports on the back YOU can decide what functions you want to control rather than Moog. Members llamastorm
If you read the Moog forum, it's nothing more than black+USB+new OS. The goodness is that the same new OS will be available for existing LP's, and hopefully (knock silicon) will have an arpeggiator. http://moogmusic.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4934
Members boose44
Imo, we're within a year of the "Voyager Old School Midi" model. I have a hard time giving Moog Music the usual snarkus. They're small, and they do seem to be trying harder. After two solid hits (Voyager and LP) and one near miss (RME) I'm willing to give them a bye on the Voyager OS. Besides, I'm waiting for the Polymoog II ... -bruce
Members AJP
In addition to the black metal, can anyone tell me if the LP 2.0's lighting color scheme has changed? Can't handle the red/orange/yellow scheme of the LP stage. Tax rebate = LP!
Members llamastorm
"Black metal" is clearly done for the Norwegian Bands.
Members Jeff Irok
Adding USB is more than an OS upgrade...If you can afford that for a Monosynth you can afford a MIDI CV converter, and with the numerous CV ports on the back YOU can decide what functions you want to control rather than Moog. I missed the USB addition - my bad. Re: no MIDI in Voyager OS - True, you can add your own MIDI to CV converter...heck, I got one...I just don't know....a $2400 monophonic synth with no MIDI (simple note on/off, pitchbend, mod wheel would make me happy)...I'm not certain that it will be as big of a hit. I'm sure there will be those who are interested, but I don't see a general appeal, especially with the Prophet 08 going for $500 less! AJP - fromt he only picture I've seen (in the Sweetwater catalog), you really can't tell what the lighting color scheme is...sorry!
Members Qwave
With the panel mode on the normal Voyager you get something like the Old School Voyager to. But with Midi and the touchpad. OK, ok, the knobs are A/Ded and then D/Aed when they are turned. But hey, you got even more modulation destinies. May we call the original Moog Voyager now "Voyager Old School plus" ?
