Members ElectricPuppy
Between those two? If you gotta have good MIDI, do the 106. For sonic superiority, I think the 60's better, AND at leat it won't eventually die of voice chip rot.

Members Don Solaris
If you gotta have good MIDI, do the 106. Juno 60 too has a "MIDI". Sort of.... But it was called DCB back then. All you need it so convert it via this thing: http://www.chd-el.cz/index.php?id=312&lngid=en As a bonus, you get additional LFO for the VCF, velocity for the VCF and the arpeggiator sync. Almost a new synth.
Members ElectricPuppy
With that upgrade, I'd say it's a no-brainer.
Members MarkShovel2
Every time I record with the Joun-60, I'm impressed with the sound quality it achieves with virtually no effects. The stereo chorus sounds great. Most synths today rely upon reverb and delay. The Juno-60 stands on it's own sound quality. Some people have commented that the Juno-60 is the closest relative of the Jupiter-8. Yes, the DCB-midi interface (MD-8) seems like an appropriate accessory. Members ew_
I've owned both a 60 and 106 at the same time, and I'll agree with the common consensus; the 60 sounds noticeably better. As to there being no MIDI, if you're recording you could do the practically unheard of these days and just record straight to an audio track... ew
Members Diametro
I'm not disagreeing with the consensus that the 60 sounds better ... but ... I wouldn't write off the

Juno 60. The 106 is great for punchy leads, but many other Rolands will sound similar. The 60 has the classic silky Roland sound, along with the JP8 and JP4

Members Acid Hazard
Juno 60. While the 106 IS a great synth, the voice chip issue really makes it a difficult buy. Anyway, now that there's the SH-201, the 106 is pretty much not needed. I can get EVERY sound i ever made out of my 106, in my SH-201. While it may not be TRUE analogue, it sounds just as good as the 106. But if you want a true analogue sound, hit the 60. You can buy DCB/MIDI converters for fairly cheap now a days. Moment of confession: My second Juno is actually in the shop right now ... I'm trying to decide if I want to salvage it for its three good chips or fix it ... (I will probably fix it; I'd not prefer the other karma ... but then there's the issue of getting all new chips
