I just got a MOTU 828MkII and trying to record in Garageband ... although the audio interface is working (can play audio from mac and the MOTU metering program shows channel activity ... )

but when I go into garageband and select the appropriate channels (mono1, mono2, stereo 3+4, stereo 5+6) for each track, nothing ... no levels ...

What am I missing here?

I don't have a 828MkII and I don't use GarageBand but . . . does the 828 show up in Apple's AudioMIDI control panel? Does it show up as the interface in GarageBand's settings?

I know Analog Kid has a 828mkII, you could go over to Analogia and ask him . . .

I tried all that to no avail ... GB will play audio through my interface but does not recognize the input -- though I am hearing it through the interface ...

I'm thinking maybe it's something with the interface ... Believe it or not I can't find a manual online for this 828 ...

Do you have the 828 set up correctly in the MOTU Audio Setup software? There are two pieces of MOTU software that you have to use:

-- Audio Setup (where you enable/disable inputs and outputs)

-- Cue Mix (mixer software)

I believe MOTU only sells paper manuals. You can buy an 828 manual from them ($20):

https://www.motu.com/store/manuals

MOTU's practice of not having HARDWARE manuals available for downloading is really weird. Given we are talking hardware here, its not like anyone could really do much with just the manual.

thanks for the help ...

PROBLEM SOLVED ... for some reason the MOTU is assigning channel into one into 3, two into 4, etc.

Not sure why that was tripping EVERYTHING UP, but it's not anymore ...

Records all tracks simultaneously ... very nice ...

Now I can go back to the Jupiter ...

Good to see you up and running. Now it is time to take some pictures of your JP6 and show them to us!!! How do you like it so far. Should be very complimentary to your Juno.
