Members DaveAronow
Suggestions? I am really starting to get into blues on the piano, and more uptempo boogie woogie n'such. I prefer instrumental stuff, dont really care if it is solo piano, or bands, old or new, although I do prefer to jam out with the volume cranked on the newer modern produced recordings. Dont really care other than I really want to hear heavily piano oriented stuff. I need some new influences, so give me what you got. To give you an example of where I have been seeking this stuff lately, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, not exactly what I am talking about, but great musicians and great piano player.. Been listening to guys and bands like Rob RioErwin Helfer TrioErwin Helfer SoloHoney AlexanderAl CoplyRoom Full Of BluesPreecher JackPinetop Smith etc. I dont really know much of this stuff. Alot of these names are from just a few compilations that I own. I also Like Ragtime, like Jopplin, and Confrey, Bolcom and the like. Thanks, Dave. You've got some great influences listed there:thu: I'm a blues pianist, myself. Lately, I've been checking out some Henry Butler: http://www.myspace.com/henrybutler. Smokin' N'awlins' piano. I also like Johnny Johnson, Otis Spann, Marcia Ball, Bruce Katz and Pinetop Perkins. You might also want to look up some instructional DVD's from Dr. John: "Dr John teaches New Orleans piano"(both lessons) and "The Piano Styles Of Dr John".
