Members tetaJ
Hi: I play guitar but this question i can only ask you guys. I used to play live and i used the first Kaoss pad like 7 or 8 years ago. I want to know the main differences between the old one, the II series and the Mini Kaoss Pad. Is the Mini up to par with the other two?? THanks!!!

Members Meatball Fulton
Currently the Kaoss Pad is up to the third version. Unlike the Kaoss Pad 3 the KP Mini has no MIDI, no sampling and you cannot edit the presets.
Members Diametro
One cannot edit the presets on any KP 2 or 3 either ...
Members tetaJ
So which one would you choose? 1, 2 or mini??? And Why?
Members ripe
It depends what you mean by "edit" the presets. On the KP3 you can tweak the parameters of a preset and store those to one of the 8 user defined patch slots. I don't know about any of the previous versions of the KP if it's possible. As for which one to get, I say KP3, but it depends on your workflow. Just having the sampling and memory card storage is the deciding point for me. But I also read that the delays in the KP3 may not be friendly to freeform artists, because they are beat-matched (more than in the KP2). cheersripe

" AFAIK there is nothing tweakable at alll ... you can save your position on the grid, but that's it ...
Members ripe
You can also tweak the "FX Release", HOLD button status, and pad motion (as useful as that is), and maybe the "level" but I'm not sure on that one. These get stored along with the grid position in the user slot. cheersripe
Members Khazul
I thought the manual for all three were online - surely that would be a good starting place for 'whats different between them'. :poke:

That is saving user settings for a particular performance ... Tweaking parameters would be changing the shape and dynamics of the room model (for e.g., reverb) or any of the scores and scores of choices on, say, a workstation or other synth ... ... the only way you can get even close to that is by changing non-editable programs ... The reasons against it are 1) two-digit display 2) it works fine more-or-less without it ... however, a computer editor would have been nice ... but programmability is not the KPs strong point; real-time manipulation of the X-Y effects is where it's at ... Members ripe
agreed, they are not effects parameters... I referred to them as preset parameters, if that means anything, lol. :-) I would love to see Korg follow through with even more studio friendly features in the next KP product... proper I/O, more sample pads, better save functionality (naming). But I won't hijack the OPs thread. The KP3 is one of the most inspiring pieces I have for building new tracks. I see a lot of people complain about the sync, but I never had too many problems. cheersripe

Members Darkstorm
Save up and get the Kaos Pad3. I love mine. Uses it for both effecting signals sent thru it and for the synths to do basses and such. The way kewl light up touch pad is extremely nice too. Lol.
