small BBC Radiophonic Workshop article. worth the watch.

I did see the original article. It was posted over at Analogia, and is quite interesting. However, this special is about the most fascinating piece of synth history I've ever seen compiled, with lots of Delia Derbyshire strutting her stuff, so, IMO, it's a must see for every synth geek.

I agree... I first saw it when it was torrented on UK nova shortly after transmission quite some years back (2004/2005?)

I loved the video of the corridors... then I watched an old video from around 1979 of a UK kids TV show about music that was also torrented and it was the same video though slowed down...

I'm never anything but astounded by the synth work done before Moog hit the scene. The Radiophonic was crucial in the development of modern electronic music, and though relatively unknown, they still get enormous credit from synth historians, and justifiably so... And it also seems that such pioneers as Louis and Bebe Barron are well studied, Clara Rockmore and Theremin, but I wish there was more information out there on the work of Raymond Scott.

Until only a few years ago, I never knew that some of the themes used in old cartoons (Warner Bros, etc.) originally came from Raymond Scott. For example, anyone who grew up on those cartoons like I did recognizes "Powerhouse", even if they can't name it.
