Members jejwood
I am playing keyboard in a rock band (read, loud) and will be using primarily synth leads with some organ and acoustic piano patches. Can anyone recommend a good amp/speaker setup that will be useful for both practice and gigging? All of the good keyboard amps that I can find are rotary based (like Leslie 3300), which is all well and good for organ and e. keyboard patches, but I need to be able to work the acoustic and other synth sounds as well. Any thoughts? I appreciate all and any input.

Members mate_stubb
Peavey KB4/5. These along with the Roland keyboard amps sound absolutely foul for reproducing piano.
Members Todzilla
I finally went to a mini-PA set up. Specifically, Yorkville NX55 powered PA speakers. What a huge difference over any so-called keyboard amps I've ever used. My Roland RD-300SX finally sounds great. Plus, these kinds of powered speakers have many other applications, like rehearsal monitors, boom boxes to beat all. I chose Yorkies over comparable units, largely due to advocates on the Live Sound forum. I'm really glad I did. And you can bring one, or a pair, as needed. They're biamped with 600 Watts, so they compete in very loud band settings.

Members Todzilla
And price? NX55s are about $650US apiece. One of them will do ya' fine and their already powered.
Members evildragon
And availability in Europe? Seriously, I find nothing bad with the peaveys. And since I'm using Korg atm, it cannot ruin my piano sound any more than it already is
