Members urbanscallywag
How slow does your slowest hardware MIDI sequencer go? I think mine is the Electribe EA-1/ER-1 at 20bpm.

Members kpatz
My Motif XS's sequencer goes all the way down to 5 BPM. Don't think I've ever used anything below 60 though.
Members ElectricPuppy
Slowest tempo I've actually used, hard or soft, was about 65.
Members oldgearguy
Notron is 11.6 (31 is the slowest programmable tempo, but you can change the number of MIDI clocks between steps from the default of 6 up to 16 to slow it down even more)
Members urbanscallywag
11.6 is a funny number. 31 too.

Members droolmaster0
I could cheat and include my sam-16, which is a midi sequencer, but can also be clocked by an analog source, which can go awfulllllly slowly.
Members ElectricPuppy
That ain't cheating.
Members urbanscallywag
Oh that's cheating. I was specifically trying to avoid modularish sequencers. Its right on the line though.
Members droolmaster0
Oh that's cheating. I was specifically trying to avoid modularish sequencers. Its right on the line though. Well, you could use it to sequence only midi gear, with the only modular interaction being the clocking, and possibly the modulation of the midi values. Members urbanscallywag
Well what's the slowest internal clock you can do? My intentions are not a contest to see what's the slowest sequencer, but rather what are the reasonable internal limits of common machines. Well, the SAM-16 is meant to be synced to other gear. There are a few internal tempos, but not many. I hardly ever use it in that mode.

Members syncretism
The Schrittmacher has a nominal tempo range of 10 to 250 BPM, but you can set the sequence's gate to its highest value, so you're looking at beats per hour. I think this could be useful in a multimedia installation.
Members kpatz
It is a serious concern. Who could count 5bpm Easy... "1"... (watch clock for 12 seconds)... "2"... (watch clock for 12 seconds)... "3"... (watch clock for 12 seconds)... "4"... (watch clock for 12 seconds)... ok, what's the time signature of the song again? Did I count 4 yet? Dang, lost track... But if your sequencer can do it, you don't need to worry about counting.

Members bruto
0.001 bpm "The Wizard Master Control Program lets you trigger external MIDI devices or your computer's awesomely simplex internal MIDI instruments with 128 separate beat configurations (8 loops of 16 beats each) each with its own controls for instrument, pitch, volume, stereo panning and duration. This is possibly the oddest little drum machine and sequencer you will ever come across. Resizing the window changes the loop length, and the tempo can be set to beats per minute (anywhere from 0.001 bpm to 50,000 bpm and beyond!) or samples per measure (to sync with BackToBasics)." Windows only, but such a cool step sequencer.
