Members lizard king
I have a Kurzweil PC88MX and an Alesis QSR 7.1. I like the Kurz keyboard and the Alesis sounds. I'm playing both keyboards live after a few year break. I'm looking for a module for the Kurzweil. I haven't bought a synth in years (as you can tell from my equipment)....the last keyboard I bought was a Hammond M-111 and it stays in my practice room. I'm looking for piano/organ/classic keyboard sounds. I've been looking on ebay at the Roland JV1080 or the XV3080 or the E-Mu proteus 2000. I could even pick up a QSR rack module fairly cheap - at least I know I like the sounds; but I was thinking it might be good to have a little variety. Among the units listed are there any that stand out - or is there a module I am overlooking? Hope that's enough info. Thanks. PS. I write software for a living. Strange as it may sound, I don't want to have to "work" to get good sounds out of my keyboards. I just want to turn them on and play. I don't even own a midi-usb interface - though I can see where I may have to break down and get one.....

Members augerinn
JV series (880 or 1080) + an exmapnsion card is a good choice for vintage keys. Relatively cheap too....
Members ChristianRock
Fantom XRs and Motif Rack ES are going cheap these days, you can probably find either one for around 500-600 dollars. The Motif racks are probably going to be about a hundred dollars cheaper than the Fantom.

I was looking at the 1080's on ebay...then I saw the xv-3080...it looked more cool. I can ger a 1080 for under $200 the XV for probably around $
