pretty good, the music is very good (with the exception of the bass which mostly uses 8th notes or 8th note pulses on the root - the bass could definitely be spiced up).

the vox need some work tho & less reverb.

the lyrics don't really resonate with me, but that could be just me. i dont think most people listen to the lyrics anyway, just the melody.

Oh, I like this. I like Monster's Logic a LOT. Love all the different instrumentals and sounds...it actually reminds me of The Stranglers for some reason. The ONLY suggestion I'd make for this is to move the vocals a bit more forward in the mix. They're reverby which is ok, but they sound...far away, you know? I want them CLOSER.

I like the very beginning on We Are Not Infinite...the base and the drums remind me of the band, Air. You know of them? Particularly that Sexy Boys song, or whatever it's called. Once the vocals start, it reminds me of something else, but I'm not sure what exactly. I like it though, a lot.

Rain...this kinda reminds me of an incredibly reverby sort of sweet, relaxing, cruisy version of the English band, Madness. The vocals I find hard to decipher in this one cause they seem more reverby than the other songs. This song didn't immediately grab me, but that's just my own personal taste. I still really like it...especially the bit where you say "clouds roll in". That's nice.

The beginning of Experiments, with just the guitar sounds, reminds me of The Fleet Foxes somehow...then when the drums start up, it reminds me of something else...sorry to be constantly making lame comparisons to others' stuff! The sort of keyboard/bells type sound in this reminds me of 80s Fleetwood Mac, which is not ALWAYS a bad thing. In this case it's nice.

And now I've run out of comments. lol

These are some good quality songs. :thu:

But like what the other guy said, I think you need to lessen your reverb. Raise the level on the vocals and maybe EQ them to cut through the mix. Unless this is your intention, a somewhat ambient-type style. But without bringing up the vocals in the mix, you're losing the effectiveness of the lyrics, especially when they're hard to hear. Although some people generally go for the melody of vocals, there is a LARGE majority of listeners that enjoy lyrics a great deal. I know quite a few people who don't even bother listening to a song simply due to the lyrics, either they're too generic, or don't resonate with them.

Regarding your singing, I think they're not bad and do suit your music.

I think it’s fantastic. The first several songs I commented on especially. I think they’re ready to go out to the public ear right now, but I would just, as I already said, move the vocals forward in the mix so they’re closer. Lessen the reverb slightly if you like, but in my mind, you don’t always need to do that if the vocals are near enough to the front.

A lot of the Fleet Foxes’ stuff has heaps of reverb on the vocals but because they’re so clear, loud and near the front of the mix, it’s all good.

Thanks for taking the time to listen people. Yeah, the vocals probably should come forward and they are the weakest link - i should expect to be criticized on them considering this is a singers forum. I don't like my voice that much and I recorded all of these immediately as I wrote them so I guess I buried them in reverb too much out of self-consciousness. I was just struggling to get these all written and recorded in my week break before I started back to school! I do like me some reverb...but maybe it's a bit much. Thanks for the comments!
