Members DarkHorseJ27
My wife wants to get a keyboard amp to get a bigger sound closer to what a real paino does than the built in speakers are capable of producing. We are interested in a low watt one, and it is only something that will be used for practice. We would like to stay below $200, but might go higher is it is really worth it. What do you guys suggest? Members Oscius
There is no point in getting an amp. you can get studio quality monitors that are easily loud enough for the same price... Amps are for medium sized gigs or live monitors. They are expensive and unnecessarily well built and loud and bassy with not the best tone. + The amps are pretty big and pretty much have to lay on the floor there is no point... Members pink floyd cramer
You might first try using a cheapo sub to carry the lows and low-mids- which is what is lacking in built-in speakers. I know that wouldn't work with an amped band, though.
Members chevybusa
Oscius an pink floyd cramer make great points, but if you're absolutely set on an amp, given your criteria you might want to check out the Roland KC-100....I've got 2 of them on speaker stands and they work great for me... Members mate_stubb
If you want high fidelity sound, stick with powered studio monitors instead of combo amps.
Members picothinker
I'm tired of carrying gear, and am trying to downsize. I get to play through a PA, so I only need a monitor. I'm not so interested in fidelity, as being able to hear myself. I've tried the little Hotspots in the past, they are merely OK, very low in fidelity, but easy to haul. I've been considering something like these little Fender powered monitors. Does anyone have experience with them? 12" monitors are good sounding, but overall getting heavier than I want to use. Members picothinker
I had considered them. Can you still hear "outside" OK? About half of what I am doing is public jams that aren't very structured, and need to be able to hear stage conversation.
